Hamilton's Ronald McDonald House is owned and operated by Kids' Care Oncology Central West Ontario, a charitable organization. The doors to this fifteen room facility opened on April 16, 1993 and has been the host to thousands of families ever since.

The first Ronald McDonald House to open outside of the U.S. was the three storey, 21 bedroom, red brick, Victorian style home opened April 1981 in Toronto. Demand was so great; a replacement House was opened in the fall of 1993. This 28 bedroom House is located within walking distance of the Hospital for Sick Children and other major medical centres.
