Since 1985, Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan, located in close proximity to Saskatoon's Royal University Hospital, has welcomed and provided a place to stay for thousands of families from across Saskatchewan and beyond our provincial borders. Each of these families shared the need to travel to Saskatoon to be with their child for specialized medical care. Many of the children required extended stays in hospital and it was vital for them to have their parents close by for care and support.
The Board of Directors is thankful for and appreciates the dedicated staff and volunteers who have ensured that since 1985, Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan is so much more than just a place to stay. It is truly a "home away from home".
The ongoing support of Ronald McDonald House Charities, McDonald's Restaurants in Saskatchewan, other corporate and individual donors, and countless fund raising events across the province ensures that the House is financially secure.
For the past several years, the House has operated at close to 100% capacity and we have frequently had to tell families that we had no vacant rooms to accommodate them. Following completion of a business case analysis, the Board approved a motion to expand the capacity of the House.
We are excited to be in the process of choosing an architect who will work with us to help make the expansion a reality. A capital campaign will be undertaken to raise the necessary funds to finance the expansion.
Our commitment to serve sick children and their families by providing a "home away from home" in Saskatoon is enduring and we look forward to being able to serve more families in the years ahead.
If you would like to help through being a volunteer or donor, please call the House at 244-5802.
We always welcome new friends.
