Ronald McDonald Family Room

Victoria Hospital Pediatric Unit, Prince Albert, SK

This partnership between RMHC-SK and the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region is the first of its kind in our province and will help support families in northern Saskatchewan health regions. The 1,300 square foot family room space is a place for families to escape the hospital setting and enjoy the comforts of home in a relaxing, peaceful and warm environment.

Effective January 1st, 2022 the Ronald McDonald Family Room (RMFR), located at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert moved into Phase 3 of the reinstatement plan, to up to 75% or 3 families. The Family Room is operated by staff and volunteers of RMHC-SK and our doors are currently due to COVID 19 open Monday-Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am-10:00pm.

In the first three months of operation, the Family Room supported over 1000 families in northern Saskatchewan, an average of 7 – 10 families a day. Clearly this expansion is making a big difference for families on the PEDS unit. In fact, one mother wrote: “This family room is so heartwarming and cozy – it would probably be so boring and lonely if it wasn’t here”.
